Bought this gul 59 Ragtop from Tyskland last year. Thanks to Mille, she talked him down 15k for me. Problem was, we could hardly find anything to complain about, but Mille did it anyway. So in my garage it sat all winter, thinking of what to do. So used Dec, Jan, Feb, Mar and April to surf ebay and buy cool rare VW items. Most of the items pictured are from the 50's or 60's. Coolest item is the Taxi handbook, that is a riot to read.
So last week i finally started the project, called for told syn, paid adgift, designed the graphics, had them made, installed them, cleaned the car, went to bugservice to adjust valves, check carbs, change oil, change gearkasse oil, etc etc.
Hard to believe when you see the bug, but it was restored and painted 12 years ago, which is wild ! It was a father and son that work in the concept department of VW that did the bug. The seat cloth ( which my friends say look like a barnevogn cloth ) is from the concept department and no other car has that material. I did change the gear knob, and paint the shaft sort.
The only thing bad is that it is cassette player and i have gotten rid of all my tapes, so guess its radio all the way to hannover.
The motor is a 2.0 flat 4, with, oh never mind, just see the picture ! ;-)
It is a definite sweet ride, fast, cool and quiet smooth ride.
Oh, and as of last week, the score is 2-0 ( an audi and a bmw ! ) hehehehehe
