I have seen a set of the above for sale in really good condition "but" they are 14" is that too small for a 1954 Beetle ?

I guess it is totally depending on your taste in wheels and tire profile. Personally, I think that anything less than 15" are looking too small on a Beetle, unless you have nice fat offroad tires wrapped on and a skyhigh riding height :-)

But that's just me... 14" and low profile would be just as bad as an Escort MKII running 13" - way too much car for the wheels ;-)
