It is nice to hear from you again and that you have finished your work one of the early models of Sportsmobile. I don't have any paperwork on the old models. But I will give
you a brief history of our company.
Our company was started in 1961 in Andrews, Indiana which is about 8 miles from Huntington, Indiana where the plant is located today. The company
was a section of a larger company called Gemco. Gemco made the seats for a lot of the RV industry and other items.
Our President Charles Borskey was the one that ran this section of Gemco. They worked on the VW's vans that were shipped from Germany.
In 1975 he decided to put a patent on his top and called it Sportsmobile. Then he started his own company in Huntington - where we are today. At
the time, besides working on VW vans, they had also started working on the Dodge, Ford, Chevy vans in 1968. When he started his new business, he
then called the whole company Sportsmobile. We stopped working on the VW vans when they went to the Vanagan in 1980. So we only converted
the models 1961 through 1979.
At the Huntington, Indiana plant they then branched out and had plants in Baltimore, Maryland and Toledo, Ohio. When the ships would bring the
VW vans to the US, they would convert them right as they were taking off the ship. They converted this way until about 1979.
When they would bring a van like you have to the shop, it would be a one day job to install the top and convert the downstairs. All parts where made
a head of time so everything fit like a puzzle.
Today our company has plants in Indiana, Austin, Texas and Fresno, CA in the US. We work on full size Ford, GMC/Chevy vans and the Dodge Sprinter/
Freightliner. We offer a Penthouse top on all of these vans.

hey clausen hvad måler dit hul i taget til din pop top. for jeg har fået en pop top i min og kan ikke rigtig finde canvas til den og den ligner din meget
